Mine fuels are increasingly used in today’s world. For many years, people have learned to use the Earth’s resources, thereby exploiting them and using them, among others, for heating and many processes in industry. The basic coal fuel in our industrial grinder world is coal. There is a reason, because without this raw material many processes can not take place. So what is the role of coal in our society and is it really such an important energy resource?
Coal very important
Coal has been widely used in today’s world for many years. Extraction of this energy raw material is very important, because it is used as a raw material, among others, in the power industry as well as in industry. However, we should not forget that this material is an excellent fuel product. For this reason, many private users during the heating season decide to buy just this product. An undoubted advantage of hard coal is its high calorific value as well as an attractive price.
We can find many varieties of hard coal on the market. One of them is commonly used anthracite, which is gaining more and more popularity on the market. So what exactly is this raw material and why should we decide to use it?
Different types of hard coal
Depending on the content of volatile parts, bituminous coal may be divided into:
– fiery coal,
– gas coal,
– coking coal,
– lean coal,
– anthracite coal.
Coal is characterized by a high content of volatile parts, as well as very poor sintering capabilities. Gas, however, although characterized by slightly higher volatile content and thus the sintering capacity may be slightly higher, will still be used in gas and coke industry. Coking coal is very often used, among others, for the production of coke. Its purity, as well as the content of volatile parts or sintering capacity, do not allow it to be used in household stoves.
In households, one of the most popular types of hard coal, that is lean coal, will work perfectly. More and more people decide to buy it because it has a low content of volatile parts, as well as low sinterability. We should also not forget that it also has a short flame. Definitely, the special fuel, which has a very low content of volatile parts, and the lack of sintering capacity is anthracite. So how is this raw material produced and what are its greatest advantages? Why is it worth to buy anthracite?
Anthracite – the greatest advantages of this raw material
Definitely, anthracite is very popular with customers because it is the most energetic hard coal. It is worth noting that anthracite contains a lot of clean coal. It happens that the content of pure coal in anthracite can be up to 97%. However, usually this element in its pure form occurs in about 93-94%. It is because of the high content of pure coal (without any admixtures) that the anthracite may have such a high degree of combustion, which certainly translates into the calorific value of this raw material.
An interesting fact is that the lumps of anthracite are characterized by a gray-black or black color. They also have a specific, semi-metallic gloss. When looking for the right raw material, it is worth paying much attention to the mentioned features, thanks to which we will be sure that it is exactly this material. So how is anthracite produced?
How is anthracite produced from bituminous coal?
It should be known that anthracite is produced during hard coal processing. The raw material is produced from so-called bituminous coal. It is worth knowing that it is a term used in relation to hard coal and lignite varieties. In general, bituminous coal means a type of coal that contains very large amounts of volatile matter.
Anthracite is created as a result of complicated processes. In the carbonization process, as a result of high pressure as well as high temperature, there are many changes in the hard coal structure. These transformations are referred to as metamorphism and thus by means of this process from ordinary hard coal it is possible to obtain fossil fuels of varying degrees of carbonisation. From hard coal, anthracite is formed. However, to achieve such a clean structure that will not contain any unnecessary impurities, as well as will only consist of pure carbon, high pressure and high temperature are needed. It is worth noting that from the chemical point of view during the entire anthracite formation process, the oxygen content as well as the hydrogen in the raw material are also reduced.
In today’s world, anthracite is a very important energy resource. More and more entrepreneurs as well as private individuals can not imagine life without this raw material. It is useful in many processes, and its greatest advantages, such as high calorific value, as well as high purity, make it increasingly sought after by many people around the world. When looking for the raw material, it is worth paying attention to its characteristic features. As a result, we will be sure that the raw material we choose is anthracite, because there are many raw materials on the market that should not be fully sold as antharcities.
