How To Choose The Right Realtor

Buying or selling a home is a very exciting experience, regardless of which side of the process you may find yourself on. However, it can also prove to be incredibly daunting, and you need to make sure that you have the right people by your side throughout the process.

Having a good real estate agent is key when you are looking to buy or sell property as they can provide you will excellent insights into the market, as well as help you process the massive heap of paperwork involved – think of them as something of an administrative lifesaver!

There are so many different estate agents and brokerages out there, so finding the right one for you and your budget can prove to be a bit of a challenge. Below, we have put together some of our favourite tips to help you find the perfect fit.

Look at the person, not their papers

On occasion, you might stumble upon the most incredible estate agent who has plenty of experience and all of the paperwork to back it up. They could come with glowing recommendations, but something about them might not gel with you – this doesn’t necessarily mean that there is anything wrong with them, but they just might not be the right fit for you and your property.

You will be spending a great deal of time with this person as you attempt to buy or sell your home, so it is important that you choose someone that you get along with and feel comfortable with, as well as someone who is good at communicating and negotiating.

Look at referrals from other homeowners

While it is very easy to do some research online and find an estate agent that seems to tick all of your boxes, nothing is better than a referral from someone who has first-hand experience in dealing with a particular agent.

Ask any homeowners that you may know and find out about their experience with their realtors. Don’t be afraid to ask about whether or not they were happy with the service that they received – the more honest and in-depth the information they provide, the better.

Make sure they offer enough support

When you have narrowed down your list of potential realtors, make sure that you do your research on each one of them. You need to pick the agent that can provide you with adequate support, home-related tips and advice and a high level of service.

Unlike when you check this site, the logistics of buying or selling a home can be very complicated, and it can be very easy to fall short or miss out on something without the correct level of support. You also need to ensure that your realtor isn’t spread too thin and that they have enough time to talk with you, listen to you and address your concerns. There is no point in finding the finest realtor that your city has to offer, only to have them take on too many projects at once, resulting in you receiving service of a lesser standard.
