When your company has a sales team, you need to be sure they have all the resources needed to get the job done.
With that in mind, are you confident you’ve given all your sales team members the recipe for success?
From office resources to promoting your brand so many consumers are aware of it, don’t drop the ball.
Are You Covering Your Bases?
In looking at making sure your sales team has all its resources needed to sell, go over the following:
1. Office resources – Do you have all the needed resources in your office for sales team members to get the job done? This includes standard things such as laptops or desktops, phones and more. Depending on the size and scope of your biz, sales team members may work only out of an office or be out on the road too. In having them work out of the office, be sure you also have a tech expert on hand. That is to take care of any technology issues that come up during the day. You do not want tech glitches cutting into time needed to sell.
2. Outside resources – You may have your sales team out on the roads some or much of the time. If this is the case, make sure they have what they need to get the job done. One of the keys would be a cell phone. This allows them to stay in contact with both clients they are off to meet and the home office. A laptop is good too since they may want to sit down with clients and go over stuff. That would be on your website, social media pages and more. If they are using company vehicles to go and meet clients, a GPS navigation is good to have. This can cut down on the potential for getting lost, being late for meetings and so on.
3. Tracking and compliance – Many businesses with sales personnel have commission setups in place. This is to reward those sales team men and women for their hard work selling. That said it would help to have commission tracking software. This will help you record sales and make sure the right sales personnel get the right commission. Speaking of commissions be sure you can answer the question of what is ASC 606. For those not aware, do your research on ASC 606 and the impact it can have on commissions for your business. You want to be sure you are in compliance. Being non-compliant can lead to problems for your business that you’d rather not have.
4. Marketing your brand – Last, how good of a job have you done when it comes to marketing your brand? If you have steady competition, you have to think they are doing all they can to market their brands. As a result, you can’t be behind the eight ball. Use all the resources at your fingertips like your website, social media, an app and more to get the word out.
In giving your sales team the ability to be successful, are you sold on your efforts so far?
